There’s a particular kind of rhythm that settles in during the first year of parenthood. Days are structured around routines that are still new, personalities are beginning to show themselves, and life feels full in a way that’s both steady and evolving. That’s the season Jeff and Taylor are in as they mark Daisy’s first birthday — a milestone that feels significant without needing to be overstated.
This session took place at the KFP studio here in Knoxville, Tennessee, and it was a joy to guide their experience from start to finish. From the beginning, the focus was on keeping things simple. At this stage, children are curious, observant, and constantly in motion, and the session was designed to move at Daisy’s pace rather than ask her to adapt to a rigid plan.
Jeff and Taylor came into the studio wanting photos that felt natural and reflective of their family right now. Nothing overly posed. Nothing that required them to perform. Instead, the session allowed space for interaction — holding Daisy close, giving her room to explore, and stepping in when she needed reassurance. We love offering gentle direction while letting moments unfold as they happened.
For many parents, especially those balancing full schedules and constant demands, an experience like this feels manageable because it’s thoughtfully guided. When families know what to expect and don’t feel responsible for orchestrating every detail, they’re able to be present in the moment instead.
This session with Jeff, Taylor, and Daisy is an example of what family photography can look like during the one-year stage — calm, intentional, and focused on connection. It reflects a season that is active and full, but also worth pausing for, just as it is.
