Each year when the calendar rolls over, I love to reflect and look back on all that the previous year held, and what a year 2023 has been! This has been my busiest year in business yet and I could not be more thankful for every family who trusted me with their photos! I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many new Knoxville families – some who were expecting sweet babies and others who just wanted to document their family this year.
The end of 2023 marks one full year of having the KFP studio, and honestly I can’t believe we’ve already been in there a year. I am so thankful for our little studio space and the beautiful backdrop it provides to capture my clients. We’ve made small tweaks over the year and it has become a place I treasure dearly.
It was close but newborn sessions ended up being my highest booked session type – due in large part to the studio! Photographing brand new babies brings me so much joy. I get excited every time an inquiry comes in with an expectant family. I love capturing those brand new baby details from tiny toes to flaky baby skin. The saying is true that ‘babies don’t keep’ and it’s such an honor to be trusted to preserve a family’s precious one right after they’re born.
Family sessions, whether they’re for new gallery wall photos or a beautiful holiday card, are so fun for me! Getting to see families from year to year, and capturing their families as they grow – its the reason I got into this type of photography. Unlike newborn sessions, most of my family sessions were outdoors, which is fun because I perfected my list of Knoxville outdoor locations this year! I love getting to photograph families snuggled on a blanket, walking along the waterfront or just playing together outside!
Maternity sessions are slowly becoming my favorite – especially when I get to capture newborn photos along with them! It is nothing less than magical to get to capture pregnancy, birth and brand new babies. Maternity sessions were a good mix between studio and outdoor locations, and I love both!
This has also been an exciting year in our family! We did Disney World for the first time in January, took many camping trips in our RV, visited Dollywood frequently, played basketball, baseball and tried swim team for the first time, started our second full year of homeschool and ended the year with a Disney cruise (made extra special by the attendance of my dad!) We are ending this year feeling so incredibly blessed for a year of lots of together.
