For so many parents, those first weeks feel like a blur—equal parts wonder and exhaustion. That’s why I love newborn sessions: they create a pause, a chance to take in the details that are otherwise so easy to miss. Tiny fingers curled around mom’s hand. Dad leaning in to kiss the top of his son’s head. The pursed lips of a sleeping babe.
Throughout the session, this new little boy was as content as could be, letting us capture a beautiful mix of sleepy swaddled poses and sweet awake moments. I always encourage parents to simply relax into the experience—hold your baby, snuggle close, and let me guide you through the rest. This couple did just that, and the result was a gallery full of images that reflect both the awe and the joy of new parenthood.
One of my favorite parts of newborn sessions with first-time parents is witnessing the natural way they settle into their new roles. There’s a softness, a protectiveness, and an unmistakable love that seems to overflow in every glance and touch. For this couple, that connection was undeniable, and it was a privilege to capture. As I culled through their gallery, I kept thinking how incredible it will be for them to look back years from now and remember this fleeting season—their first baby boy, so small in their arms.
